Dr. Kishi Anderson Leachman (Assistant Professor, University of Winnipeg) has over 15 years’ experience as a special educator at various levels of the education system. She also worked in the capacity of an educational psychologist in Canada, serving as a member of a multidisciplinary team that supports teachers, school administrators and families to meet the needs of students and youths in inclusive classrooms. 

Dr. Kishi Anderson Leachman is an Assistant Professor in Inclusive Education in the Faculty of Education at the University of Winnipeg. She is a dedicated, humble, and empathetic professional who is passionate about equity, diversity, and inclusivity. She has over 15 years’ experience as a special educator at various levels of the education system. She also worked in the capacity of an educational psychologist in Canada, serving as a member of a multidisciplinary team that supports teachers, school administrators and families to meet the needs of students and youths in inclusive classrooms. As a reflective practitioner, Dr. Anderson Leachman embraces collaborative, experiential and inclusive approaches to teaching and learning.

She has conducted research on inclusive leadership in elementary schools in the Caribbean, and examined contextually inclusive education practices and experiences from a multifaceted approach including multiple stakeholders (teachers, principals, students, parents, educational assistants). She believes strongly that context plays a vital role in understanding inclusive education.

Dr. Anderson Leachman served as a member of the Social Justice Advisory and Truth and Reconciliation Committees in her department, where she conducts research, engages in ongoing discussion and relationship building with indigenous organizations and community. Her goal is to continue to serve in similar a capacity to inform equitable policies and practices and to foster lifelong learning
