Dr. Donna McGhie-Richmond

Dr. Donna McGhie-Richmond (Professor Emeritus, University of Victoria, British Columbia) focuses on the role of universal design for learning and instruction and assistive technologies in enabling teaching and learning. She has established collaborative connections with school districts in BC and the Ministry of Education-supported services such as the Provincial Integration Support Program; and SET-BC.

 

Dr. Donna McGhie-Richmond, holds a Ph.D. in Adaptive Instruction, Curriculum, Teaching and Learning from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education/ University of Toronto (OISE/UofT). She is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Victoria. She teaches courses in inclusive education and digital and assistive technologies at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Donna’s current research interests are grounded in her years as a consultant, researcher and special education teacher. Her current focus is on the beliefs, roles and practices of teachers and principal leadership in supporting inclusive education. Donna is further interested in specific instructional frameworks, such as Universal Design for Learning and assistive technology, and their effect on student outcomes. While her research uses mixed methods approaches; her main interests are in qualitative methodologies and analyses.
